It was a long day but it had finally came. Our special present from Uncle. The game The Cartel: Soul Warriors, my uncle's greatest MMORPG game. It was designed to place your mind inside the game and you played the character like it was you plus you get to design the character in various ways. But I'm getting into too much detail. "Sis, Christmas came early," I yelled for her.
"Seriously? It's her?" my sister said while running down the stairs.
"Duh, didn't you hear me?"
"Hmph, don't be so snide." I laughed at her remark and handed her equipment. She ran up the stairs faster than she came down and I just walked up the stairs. Don't get me wrong I wanted to play the game as much as she did. I'm just usually a bit of a klutz when I'm in a hurry.
I could hear my sister in her room setting up everything quickly as possible and I did the opposite and the read the game and installation manuals. Set everything up and began to install the game when I heard a thud coming from my sister's room.
"What happened," I said running into her room and seeing what was wrong.
"Heh," my sister said sound embarrassed, "I tripped over the cords." I just rolled my eyes and went over to untangle her.
"There all untangled."
"Thanks, bro," my sister said happily. She went back to installing the game as well as I and when I got back to my room my game was nearly finished installing it was at "93% installed." "So what are you gonna be in the game bro?" my sister asked.
"Don't you remember uncle said 'Your discs are the only ones pre-programmed with characters a the current highest level.' So I don't get a choice uncle did that already," I told her.
"Oh yeah, forgot about that," my sister said.
Ding, the computers went off saying that the installation was finished. I placed my helmet and hit the log in button and was "teleported" to a new world. When the lights stopped flashing around my head I found myself in a forest with trees covering the sky. Is this the game?
"Think fast," a voice said but it was too late the item that hit me was icy and cold. "Geez your reflexes are slower in here then they are out there."
"Well, I know that voice anywhere, Shira-chan?" I asked wiping the snow off of my face.
"Correct," she said while laughing.
"What was that?"
"Ice Spell: Snowball."
"Ice Spell? What did uncle make you a Frost Mage?"
"Yup but I have no idea what he made you."
"I made him a special class called: Swordsman. It's still in beta and your one of the few to test it out," someone said out of nowhere.
"Uncle?" we both said in unison.
"Yes," he said while golden rings appeared round his figure.
"Uncle!" we both yelled running to him and giving him a hug.
He chuckled and said, "Welcome niece and nephew to the game I created. Do you like?"
"Yeah," I stated, "It feels, looks and smells real."
"Taste, too, the game is made to make you receptors experience like you were living in it. The only receptor that is turned off is death," Uncle said.
"Why just death," my sister asked.
"Because we felt that if your mind felt the pain of dying that you would actually die in the real world."
"So what happens if you do 'die'?" I asked.
"Well you fain when you reach 1 hp* and then you and your body are transported to the nearest safe spot. Go ahead try dueling each other and see if it works for yourselves."
"Duel on!" we both yelled.
"Ice Spell: Snow Bolt," my sister said while channeling the 3 second spell cast.
"Mobilitate bombus: Gradus celeritas," I said before she could finish the spell.
"Huh, where is he?"
"Behind you," I said as I slashed my sword causing her to faint. Her body teleported a few short yards away.
"Not fair I thought all spells have a channel time."
"Not if you know the latin name. Didn't you read the manual."
"Heh, no."
"Well, lain is my forte and Mobilitate bombus: Gradus celeritas means Speed Spell: Speed Step."
"Of course because you go to high school and you have to take 2 language classes every year."
"Yes," I said smiling, "Latin and French."
"Hm," my sister said grumbling.
"I can teach you the lain words for your spells, it's quite easy since most of your spell revolve around Ice, which is Glacies."
"Okay, but first," my sister said looking up, "Should we take care of that."
"Oh my," Uncle said, "Security, Virus Alpha 0-0-1 Protocol Eliminate." He said to a microphone.
The people on the other side of the microphone shouted, "Code is not working, virus bug has evolved."
"Don't worry, Uncle I'll take care of this," I said a bit unknowlingly. I mean I felt I could take care of it but my body was kind of doing the motions by itself without me telling it what to do. "Expulsam Eruerent Icircumflex (Skyward Slash)," I said jumping in the air and slashing the beast that stood before us I managed to destroy it with one hit and to top it off it had 2 million hp.
"What was that?" my uncle asked, "How did you hit for over 2 million."
"I don't know," I said shrugging my shoulders.
My uncle was looking at me very weird. It was as if he was in a deep thought and then he dismissed it. "Well as you can see monstrous beasts and demons are randomly appearing we believe that it is a bug that keeps evolving itself further after we launch a program to crush it. That's why I asked you guys to come to help out with a good friend of mine and yours to figure out what is going on. You can come here."
Golden rings appeared and a figure showed up, "Hey guys," the person said.
"DB!" we both announced in unison.
We all chuckled about it and got down to business, "Okay as you two just the dragon, this bug keeps popping up random bosses in random locations. This was it's first attempt to make a world raid boss appear."
"Kids, dinner's done!" a voice said.
"What was that?" I asked.
"What was what?" DB replied back.
"That voice it sounded like, Mom," my sister said.
My uncle replied back, "Oh you guys are hearing the outside world. Better log out and find out what my sister wants. We will discuss this tomorrow."
"Okay, see you guys later. Love ya, bye," my sister and I said to them while logging out.
---5 seconds later in the game---
"Sir, how did your nephew do-" DB said before he was interrupted.
"Shh, forces are beginning to work already. And just to let you know he shouldn't have just yet to perform and attack at that magnitude," Uncle said.
